Albany Devils News Release

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Devils fought back from two goals down in the third period, but lost, 5-4, in a shootout to the Norfolk Admirals Monday at Times Union Center. Matt Anderson scored shorthanded and Adam Larsson netted his first goal of the season to force extra time. In the shootout, Joe Whitney scored for Albany, but Norfolk received tallies from Peter Holland and Patrick Maroon.

The shootout loss still earned the Devils one point towards the standings. Albany accumulated four out of a possible six points during their stretch of three games in four days. They are now 3-5-0-3. Norfolk ended a three-game losing streak to improve to 7-5-0-0.

Chad Wiseman and Tim Sestito also scored and Steve Zalewski and Alexander Urbom each registered a pair of assists. In goal, Jeff Frazee turned aside a season-high 31 shots. He is now 2-1-2 with a 1.94 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.

Norfolk received two goals from Kyle Palmieri and markers from Luca Caputi and Holland. Both of Palmieri's goals came after concurrent Albany penalties that handed Norfolk a two-man advantage early in the third period.

The Devils carried a 2-1 lead into the final frame thanks to Wiseman's goal at 15:25 of the first and Sestito's tally at 8:24 of the second.

Holland tied the game 32 seconds into the third and was followed by Palmieri's goals at 2:12 and 3:11.

Matt Anderson pulled the game within one, scoring shorthanded at 12:43, and Larsson picked a corner with a blast from the point at 16:33.

The Devils outshot the Admirals, 43-36. Frederik Andersen earned the victory by making 39 stops.

Next up, the Devils travel to the St. John's IceCaps for a pair of games Friday and Saturday. Puck drop for both outings is 6 pm (EST).
