Detroit City FC Signs Goalkeeper Ryan Shellow
March 6, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Detroit City FC News Release
Today Detroit City FC announced the signing of goalkeeper Ryan Shellow on a one-year contract that will see him back with Le Rouge for the 2023 season.
Shellow, formerly of FC Tucson, first joined the club ahead of its inaugural season in the USL Championship and was always ready to be called upon to step in for club legend Nate Steinwascher if needed. Shellow would be called into action for Le Rouge's away match to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks of the Western Conference, a match which was huge at the time for Detroit City FC's chances of hosting a playoff match. He more than lived up to the occasion.
Detroit City FC defeated the Colorado Springs Switchbacks by a score of 2-1 thanks to a handful of great saves by Shellow, it was his first ever professional match. He was named the Man of the Match for his performance between the posts and went on to win the USL Championship Save of the Week for Week 27.
