Detroit City FC News Release
Detroit, Michigan - After falling to the top team in the USL Championship's Eastern Conference, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, 2-0 last weekend, Detroit City FC will return home for a Wednesday night match against the defending Eastern Conference champions, Louisville City FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM and the match will be streamed live on ESPN+. Tickets are still available and can be found here.
Louisville comes to Keyworth with a record of 8-5-5 on the season. They have recorded at least a point in four of their last six matches.
Detroit will have to be wary of LCFC forward Wilson Harris. The 23-year-old has notched four goals in 13 appearances this year, including the match-winning goal when the two sides met at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky on April 8.
While the offense has not necessarily been clicking for City lately, the defense has continued to be stout, led by goalkeeper Nate Steinwascher. The 5'11 GK has notched 58 saves on the year, ranking fourth among all goalkeepers in the USL Championship.
Even though the scoreboard was lopsided last Saturday, DCFC did a solid job of controlling possession, winning that battle by 20 percent (60-40). They also managed to outshoot the Riverhounds 9-8.
DCFC has found a spell of rotten form recently, losing four of their last five, but are looking to create some mid-season momentum this week against a top-five team in the conference while looking to kickstart their playoff push.
This will be the sixth meeting between Le Rouge and Louisville City FC with the visitors coming out on top in all five occasions, twice of which have been in the US Open Cup and decided by a penalty-kick shootout.
