HAMTRAMCK, MICHIGAN - Detroit City FC dominated play in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with a convincing 3-0 win against the Michigan Stars on Tuesday night at Keyworth Stadium.

Le Rouge led play in the first 45 minutes with two late goals, both coming from corners. At the 45' mark, forward Connor Rutz connected with a header off service played in from midfielder Maxi Rodriguez. Two minutes later in stoppage time, defender Matt Lewis buried the ball in the net - coming once again from a ball played in by Rodriguez.

Detroit City FC continued to press to open the second half, adding one more tally before the final whistle. Midfielder Michael Bryant - making his first start with Le Rouge - played a ball into the penalty area that found Rutz. Rutz played a header to the feet of Lewis to complete his brace.

City controlled the game with 67% of possession - marking the fifth-straight game this season DCFC has won the possession battle. Detroit City totaled 14 shots with six finding frame while holding the Stars to just three shots in the match - none on target.

With this win, Detroit City FC will head into the third round of the U.S. Open Cup for the first time in CLub history. The draw for the third round will take place Friday, April 8, at 12 pm ET.

This coming Saturday, Le Rouge will be on the road visiting Atlanta United FC II for a USL Championship game at Fifth Third Bank Stadium starting at 7:30 pm ET on ESPN+.
