Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have announced their annual Charity Golf Classic will take place Monday, October 27 at Rio Bravo Country Club.

The Condors Charity Golf Classic has been held every year of the Condors existence and has raised over $40,000 for local organizations in the previous 10 years. The proceeds from this year's tournament, which is sponsored by Bakersfield South Rotary, will benefit Kern Bridges Youth Homes, which provides adoption services for children previously destined for long-term foster care, and continuing education for childcare professionals.

Teams are composed of four entrants and a Condors player, in a scramble format. The cost is $125 per person and includes a Condors golf tournament polo, greens fees, cart, range balls prior to the start, a sack lunch and a dinner after the tournament, with chances to win prizes throughout the day. Additional dinner tickets may be purchased for $20 each, and the dinner includes deep pit, BBQ chicken, chili beans, salad and rolls.

"We've had some folks participate in this tournament every single year, and everybody has a great time," said Condors President Matthew Riley. "We're also proud to support Kern Bridges Youth Homes and honored to be able to present them with a big check at the end of the event to assist them in their mission."

"We're absolutely thrilled to be paired up with the Condors again in this tournament," said KBYH Executive Director John Bacon. "Every single penny raised goes towards the care of abused and neglected children all throughout Kern County."

The event sells out each season, and registration is limited to the first 88 entrants so download the registration form here, and for more information, contact John Bacon KBYH at (661) 396-2362 or the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825).

Ice time!

Rabobank Arena today began the week-long process of putting the ice back into the rink. The process takes multiple stages and several days, uses hundreds of gallons of paint and will take the entire week to freeze to the point that it can be skated on. The initial layer of ice goes in Monday, along with much of the painting. The ice logos will be installed starting Monday night and throughout Tuesday, as well as the rest of the "flooding." Media requests in regards to viewing the process can be directed to the Condors communications department at 324-PUCK (7825). Visit Condors.tv for video on the ice going in!
