Gladiators to broadcast Games on TV

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have again teamed up with the Gwinnett Sports Commission and the Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau and TVGwinnett Channel 23 to broadcast select Gladiators games during the 2008-09 season.

The Gladiators will have five tape delayed broadcasts on TVGwinnett Channel 23 presented by the Gwinnett Sports Commission throughout the 2008-09 season. The Gladiators had two games broadcast on a tape delayed basis on TVGwinnett Channel 23 during the 2007-08 season last year.

The Gladiators and TVGwinnett Channel 23 will tape delay the following five games presented by the Gwinnett Sports Commission during the 2008-09 season: Saturday, November 15th, vs. South Carolina; Saturday, January 17th vs. Florida; Saturday, February 2nd vs. Mississippi; Saturday, March 7th vs. Trenton and Friday, April 3rd vs. South Carolina.

All five games will be re-broadcasted on TVGwinnett Channel 23 during the week following the game date with the first airing on the Monday evening following the game.

Gladiators Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Dustin Bixby will handle the play by play for the broadcasts while Christine Troyke of the Gwinnett Daily Post will provide the color commentary for all five games.

TVGwinnett is carried by all cable operators in Gwinnett County. The channel can be found on Comcast channel 23 or 25 and on Charter channel 23.

Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 23 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Eighteen of the 23 teams have played at least five years in their current city.

The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
