Columbus Destroyers News Release
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Arena Football League today announced that Columbus Destroyers offensive specialist Carl Bond has been named the Week 6 Offensive Player of the Week. Bond is the first Destroyers player to win an AFL weekly award since Week 4 of the 2005 season.
Bond had a career game this past weekend against the New York Dragons, as he set career highs in receiving yards with 190 and touchdowns with three. His total offensive production came on just nine receptions. Of the 190 receiving yards and three touchdowns, 142 and all three scores came in the second half of the game.
Bond (5-11, 200, Connecticut) has made an immediate impact on the team. Acquired on Feb. 17, when he signed as a free agent, Bond has quickly jumped into the No. 2 slot on the Destroyers in receiving. In just three games, Bond only is 10 receptions and 30 yards behind Thabiti Davis for the team lead in receiving. He is tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns with six.
