San Antonio Brahmas News Release
Final Score: San Antonio Brahmas 13, Houston Roughnecks 22
Recap: The Roughneck's 22 first half points prove to be all they need to earn the victory over the Brahmas as Houston's defense stifles San Antonio.
Quick Punch
Brahmas WR Travis Jonsen had a 59-yard return on the opening kickoff to set up San Antonio's offense on the opponents 36-yard line. The return was the Brahma's longest of the season.
Striking first
For the second week in a row, the Brahams scored a touchdown on their opening drive. QB Jack Coan connected with WR TJ Vasher for a nine-yard touchdown pass to cap off a five-play, 36-yard scoring drive. Vasher also hauled in the one-yard conversion to put the Brahmas up 7-0 with 12:29 left in the first quarter.
Wing's Big Day
Punter Brad Wing had a busy night, booting six punts for a total of 298 yards (48.8 avg). Wing had his fourth punt go for 60 yards, his longest of the season.
Taking it Back
With 8:12 left in the third quarter, Kam Kelly picked off Houston QB Brandon Silvers. The interception was Kelly's first of the season and the Brahma's second of the year.
Punching it In
Following the Kelly interception, the Brahmas put together an eight-play, 45-yard touchdown drive that was capped off by a two yard touchdown rush from RB Jacques Patrick. The score was Patrick's first of the season and put the Brahmas within nine (13-22) late in the first quarter.
Bounceback Defense
After allowing 22 points and 275 yards of offense in the first half, the Brahma's defense held Houston scoreless in the second half, allowing just 99 yards and six first downs in the second half.
