Dallas Desperados News Release

IRVING, TX (Thursday, May 10, 2007) - The Dallas Desperados will dedicate their Monday, May 14 home game at the American Airlines Center to celebrating Mother's Day and raising breast cancer awareness with support of the North Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. All fans are encouraged to wear pink for the Monday night game and join the Desperados in support of Mother's Day, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the North Texas Komen Race for the Cure.

The Desperados (9-1) are scheduled to kickoff against the defending Arena Bowl Champion Chicago Rush (8-1) at 7:30 p.m. in a nationally televised game featured on Russell Athletic ESPN Arena Football Monday ESPN2 and ESPN360.com.

The Desperados celebration is a part of the Arena Football League's nationwide Mother's Day tribute. The Desperados join other AFL teams in play this weekend by using a commemorative pink game ball for special on-field presentations and other promotions. The AFL and Spalding altered the light brown leather ball which typically features a blue 'S' stripe to include a pink 'S' stripe, pink laces and pink crosshairs for this weekend's Mother's Day games.

Under its own initiative, the Desperados expanded the Mother's Day salute to include support of breast cancer awareness and promotion of the upcoming Komen North Texas Race for the Cure on June 2, 2007 in Plano, Texas.

The Desperados will donate five dollars to the North Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every ticket sold through a special "Komen" ticket promotion in place for the May 14 game. For more information on the Komen benefit tickets or to purchase tickets, contact the Desperados Ticket Sales Office at (972) 785-4014.

"The Dallas Desperados are pleased to celebrate Mother's Day and show support for Susan G. Komen for the Cure," said Shy Anderson, Desperados Chief Operating Officer. "We are excited about showing our appreciation for moms everywhere on Mother's Day and to be able to use the media platform of the Dallas Desperados and ESPN to show our support for breast cancer research. Thousands of women are lost to this illness every year and maybe our support means that one more woman - one more mother - is given the tools she needs to be a Great Grandma."

A breast cancer survivor from the North Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will serve as one of the Desperados "honorary captains" during the pre-game coin toss. After the toss, the survivor will be presented with the authentic pink game ball used in the opening kick off in honor of all cancer survivors in attendance at the game.

Other game day promotions include: the give away of miniature pink game balls to the first 1,000 females through the American Airlines Center doors; sign-up opportunities on the concourse for the North Texas Komen Race for the Cure; and raffle of a team autographed authentic pink game ball for those patrons who register for the North Texas Komen Race for the Cure during the game.

The North Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure funds programs and services for women and men in Denton, Collin and Grayson Counties. This year, $800,000 was awarded to 10 programs in these areas to assist women and their families in breast cancer education, screening, and treatment. For more information on any of these promotions, please call 972-378-4808 or visit the Komen North Texas website at www.komennorthtexas.org.
