Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage look to win their second consecutive game Friday night (May 11) on the road against the Columbus Destroyers. Last Saturday (May 5), the Rampage defeated the Nashville Kats, 71-55, at Van Andel Arena for their third win of the season. Meanwhile, the Destroyers have won three of their last four games and boast a 4-1 record at Nationwide Arena this year.

Last week, Grand Rapids jumped out to a 20-point lead over Nashville after scoring a team record 34 first-quarter points. Quarterback Chad Salisbury (Perryopolis, Pa.) threw seven touchdowns for the second straight week, including three to receiver Kenney Solomon (West Palm Beach, Fla.)

Turnovers proved the key difference in the game, as the Rampage tied a team record by collecting three fumbles and two interceptions. Defensive Player of the Game Johnnie Harris (Chicago, Ill.) intercepted a pair of passes by Kats quarterback and former Michigan State University star Jeff Smoker. Meanwhile, Rampage defensive back Trey Bell (Racine, Wis.) led all players with 9.5 tackles and forced two fumbles, one of which he recovered on Nashville's opening drive.

Unfortunately, Grand Rapids' injury woes continued. Having already caught two touchdown passes in the game against Nashville, receiver/linebacker Jerome Riley (Los Angeles, Calif.) suffered a hamstring injury in the first half. At minimum he will miss Grand Rapids' next four games, as the team placed the four-time Ironman of the Game on its injured reserve list. Filling Riley's spot on the Rampage roster will be defensive back Cliff Green (Decatur, Ga.), who had been on the team's practice squad.

Rampage fans can watch the action live beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Comcast Local. Also, fans can hear every snap with play-by-play voice Joe Parson on WBFX 101.3 or at RampageFootball.com.
