Desperados Close Home Schedule against Storm

April 29, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Dallas Desperados News Release

The Dallas Desperados began their late season push by defeating the Los Angeles Avengers 60-57 last Sunday, pushing their record three games above the .500 mark (8-5) for the first time in club history. After a defensive first half that finished with a 21-17 score, Dallas and Los Angeles went on a scoring spree in the second half with Dallas scoring touchdowns on six-of-seven possessions and Los Angeles finding the end zone five-of-seven times. With the Desperados clinging to a 53-50 lead with less than 30 seconds to play, Tim Martin sacked Avengers quarterback Tony Graziani, forcing a fumble that Andy McCullough recovered and returned for a touchdown and a 10-point Desperados advantage. Los Angeles then recovered the ensuing onside kick and lined up for a game-tying 53-yard field goal, but Martin broke through to block the kick and preserve Dallas' victory.

Dallas closes out its regular season home schedule this week when it hosts the league leading Tampa Bay Storm at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. NBC Sports will televise the game, with Mike Breen and Ray Bentley calling the action.

The Desperados begin preparations for the Storm on Wednesday, April 30 at Texas Stadium (weather permitting). They will continue their work Thursday (May 1) at Texas Stadium (weather permitting) before finishing the week on Friday (May 2) at Reunion Arena. In the event of inclement weather, the club will email notice of the new practice location. Coach Avezzano will host his weekly press briefing on Wednesday at approximately Noon in the visitor's locker room at Texas Stadium.

Dallas is vying for a home playoff game either the first (May 24-25) or second (May 31-June 1) weekend of the playoffs. Tickets any possible home playoff can be purchased by calling the Desperados ticket office at 972-785-4900, visiting area TicketMaster locations or by visiting the Desperados website at www.dallasdesperados.com.
