Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that goaltender Nick DeSimone has been named the East Division Star of the Week for his performance last weekend against the Kenai River Brown Bears.
The Horsham, Penn. native stopped 70 of 72 shots in two games, helping the Tomahawks pick up a pair of road wins against the Brown Bears.
"Nick has been strong for us this season, giving us opportunities to win when he is in the net. Over the weekend he was solid as a rock both nights," said Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia.
Friday night, DeSimone stopped 35 of 36 shots, as the Tomahawks picked up a 6-1 win. He matched those numbers Saturday night, as Johnstown finished the weekend sweep with a 4-1 win.
"I am proud of the way he stepped up for our club. He definitely deserves this recognition," said Letizia.
DeSimone has appeared in seven games this season, going 4-2-0 with a 1.78 GAA and a .941 save percentage.
Forward Andrew Romano was also named the second star of the week for his five point performance last weekend.
The Tomahawks close out their Alaska road trip this Friday and Saturday against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Face-off for both games is set for 11:30 p.m. EST.
Johnstown returns home to begin an 11-game homestand with a three-game series against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Nov. 12-14. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.johnstowntomahawks.com or call 814-536-GOAL (4625).
