STATESBORO, Ga. - South Georgia Tormenta FC defender Deshawon Nembhard was named to the USL League One Team of the Week for Week Five after excelling in the team's 2-0 win against FC Tucson.
South Georgia obtained its second win of the season in a thrilling clean sheet at Keno North Stadium on Saturday night. Nembhard recorded his first assist and helped the defensive line notch its fifth straight clean sheet of the season. The Belizean defender also recorded a combined total of 10 interceptions and recoveries.
Tormenta FC now heads home to host Charlotte Independence SC on Saturday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. ET. Supporters can purchase Military Night general admission tickets and VIP packages in advance on the club website.
The club will then continue its historic run in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday, May 10, at 8 p.m. ET, heading to Fort Lauderdale to take on Major League Soccer-side Inter Miami CF. The winner of the matchup will enter the round of 16 of the national tournament.
Tormenta FC is excited for a historic 2022 as it transitions from Erk Russell Park to Tormenta Stadium.
