FORT WORTH, Texas - Zack Greer finished with a game-high three goals, but it was not enough as Panther City Lacrosse Club held off Las Vegas 11-8 Saturday night.
Rob Hellyer finished with five point on a goal and four assists, while John Phillips tallied two goals and an assist. Landon Kells made 34 saves in the cage for Vegas.
The Dogs had the upper hand in the first quarter with goals from Greer, Phillips and Jack Hannah to take a 3-2 advantage. Las Vegas would relinquish the lead in the second, as a four-goal run before halftime put the hosts ahead 7-4 at the break.
Las Vegas would twice come within one goal of tying the game in the third quarter, but were unsuccessful in getting over the hump. PCLC outscored the Dogs 3-1 in the third quarter to ultimately secure the victory.
The Desert Dogs return to Michelob ULTRA Arena Next Saturday, March 25 to host the Rochester Knighthawks for the franchise's inaugural Tucker Out Lymphoma Night. Faceoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
