Iowa Chops News Release
DES MOINES, IA (July 26, 2005) --- The Iowa Stars have officially announced their radio partner for the upcoming 2005-2006 hockey season. As part of an overall marketing partnership, all 80 regular season games and playoffs for the Stars will be broadcast live on Des Moines Radio Group's PRAISE 940 KPSZ.
"We are pleased to be working with Des Moines Radio Group for the next three seasons," said John Pettit, President of the Iowa Stars. "They have a strong cross-section of stations throughout central Iowa, and we know that our fans will be tuning in to Praise 940 to catch all of the Stars action."
"We strongly believe in supporting the community - from events and charities to sports and entertainment," said Bill Wells, General Manager of Des Moines Radio Group. "Having the Stars in Des Moines will be great for the city...and we're proud to have them as part of our family."
About the Iowa Stars and the Affiliation with Dallas
The Iowa Stars begin play this October at the state-of-the-art Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines. Season tickets are currently on sale for as low as $8.00 per game.
The Iowa Stars will begin a five-year affiliation agreement with the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars this fall as Iowa plays their inaugural season in the AHL. Per the affiliation agreement, the Dallas Stars will provide up to 22 players to the Iowa Stars. In addition, Dallas is also responsible for all hockey operation decisions as well as the hiring of the hockey operations staff.
The Iowa Stars will join 26 other clubs in the AHL, which serves as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Entering its 70th season of operation this fall, over 80 percent of all players to compete in the NHL in 2003-04 were AHL graduates, and more than 400 players took the ice in both leagues.
