
'Ders, Diamond Dawgs Roll into KBCC Finale

CORPUS CHRISTI - On Day 2 of the Kleberg Bank College Classic, the Mississippi State Bulldogs cruised past Nicholls State, 14-4, while the Texas A&M -Corpus Christi Islanders edged by UC Santa Barbara, 2-1.
In the opener, Mississippi State scored 13 runs in the game's first four innings and never looked back. Left-hander Ethan Small tossed six solid innings while giving up three unearned runs for the victory.
The Islanders mounted a furious eighth inning rally in the nightcap, scratching across a pair of runs against Alex Patterson to take a 2-1 lead. Right-hander Cole Carter closed things out in the ninth inning, completing 2.2 scoreless innings out of the Islanders' bullpen.
The Islanders and Bulldogs square off at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Whatburger Field. Prior to the finale, UC Santa Barbara and Nicholls State play at 11 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Whataburger Field box office, by calling 361-561-HOOK or online.
