Bend Elks News Release
Bend, OR - Elks fall to Walla Walla Sweets by a score of 4-2.
Derek Dixon hit a solo home run for the Bend Elks in the top of the 5th inning, but it would be the only lead for the Elks all game long, falling to the Walla Walla Sweets by a 4-2 final.
Command of the strike zone was lacking for the Bend Elks pitchers on Thursday, as they issued 5 walks and hit 3 batters, giving Walla Walla extra opportunities to score, and they took advantage of the opportunity. Walla Walla scored 1 in the 7th and 2 in the 8th inning to go up 4-2 and put the game away. Jace Puckett went 5 innings in receiving a no decision, giving up 1 run on 3 hits, walking 4 and striking out 1. Nick HIghberger was charged with the loss in the game, giving up one run in 1 and 1/3 innings, striking out 2.
Dixon finished the game 2-3 with his solo shot, the first for the Elks on the campaign, Seth Spivey went 2-4 with a run for the second consecutive night and Justin Bohn went 1-3 with an RBI double for the Elks, who fell to 1-1 on the season.
The Elks will look to take the rubber match of the 3 game series against the Sweets on Friday, first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
