Kelowna Falcons News Release

Thursday night the Kelowna Falcons would fall in Victoria 4-2 to Harbourcats in pitching duel.

The Falcons would jump out to a quick lead in the top of the first inning, like they did on Wednesday night. Cody Scaggari singled on the first pitch of the game and would eventually score on Grayson Porter's third RBI of the young season.

The score would stay 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth when the Cats would tie it off starter Michael Frericks. The run was unearned after a Scaggari error.

The Cats would take the lead for the first time in the sixth. David Schuknecht would score after leading off the inning by being hit by a pitch. He would come across on a Chris Lewis RBI single off Frericks.

The lead was short lived as the Falcons tallied an unearned run of their own in the top of the seventh on two throwing errors, on the same play. AJ Young would score for the Falcons to tie it at two.

The Cats would put the game away with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. The first of two of those runs, coming off the bat of Alex DeGoti who homered on a 1-0 count, before Schuknecht scored another unearned run.

The Falcons offence would only generate four hits on the night off starter Connor Russell. Scaggari, Darren Kolk, Porter and Cody Andreychuk would collect a base hit

Falcons starter Frericks would throw seven innings, giving up just six hits and three earned runs while striking out six, but was hit with the loss.

The Falcons (0-2) and Cats (2-0) will battle in the series finale on Friday night, before the Falcons FREE home opener on Saturday. Get to Elks Stadium early on Saturday to get a good seat; the gates open at 5:30pm, first pitch at 6:30pm. Jason Mouton will get the start for the home side.
