NEW YORK, NY - April 4, 2008 - The Denver Nuggets today announced they have assigned guard Taurean Green to their D-League affiliate Colorado 14ers. Green is scheduled to be available on April 6, when the 14ers host their division rival Austin Toros in Broomfield, Colo.
The 14ers are the second D-League team Green will play for this season - he was previously assigned by the Portland Trail Blazers to their affiliate, the Idaho Stampede, for four games between Dec. 9 and Dec. 22, 2007. In those four games, Green averaged 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 37.5 minutes. Green's second assignment is the 50th assignment of the season.
Selected in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft by Portland, Green was traded to Denver on Feb. 21 in exchange for guard Von Wafer. Green has played nine games as a Nugget, averaging 1.1 points in 3.3 minutes. In eight games with Portland, Green averaged 2.1 points, 1.0 assists and 5.5 minutes.
Green helped lead the University of Florida to back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2006 and 2007. In 111 games at Florida, he averaged 10.5 points, 3.6 assists and 2.1 rebounds, including 16 points and six assists in the 2007 National Championship game against Ohio State. Green was named MVP of the 2007 NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional and earned Second Team All-SEC honors for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. He left Florida as the Gators 31st all-time leading scorer with 1,170 career points as well as ranking second in career free throw percentage (.856), seventh in assists (400), and tied for eighth in three-point field goals made (186)
Green joins a Colorado team currently tied with the Tulsa 66ers for second place in the Southwest Division with a 25-21 record. Both teams sit 3.5 games behind the division-leading Austin Toros and are tied for the sixth and final slot in the upcoming D-League playoffs.
