Demary Ready to Destroy

(BUFFALO, NY) - The Buffalo Destroyers announced they have signed 2001 All-Rookie Team member OL/DL Silas Demary. Last season with Carolina, Demary (6-3 285 lbs) appeared in ten games, recording 18 tackles and a team leading four sacks. He also caught ten passes for 114 yards and three touchdowns.

"Silas is a very talented football player," said head coach and general manager Ray Bentley. "We are fortunate to be able to bring him in. He adds tremendous depth to our line and we look forward to him competing for playing time."

Demary, entering his second season in the AFL, had a career high four receptions and 35 yards May 4, 2001 vs. Buffalo. He played for the Norfolk Nighthawks of the AF2 in 2000 totaling 53 tackles, a team leading 12 sacks and five fumble recoveries.

Demary joins QB Fred McNair, FB/LB Jason Bratton, DS Corey Johnson and OL/DL Jerry Sharp as former members of the Carolina Cobras who will suit up for the Destroyers this season.

The Destroyers also announced they have waived OL/DL Jeremy Johnson. Johnson, a rookie, appeared in both pre-season games and the 2002 opener for the Destroyers.

Bentley's bunch looks to go 2-0 in the Eastern Division as they travel to the Big Apple to meet the New York Dragons, Sunday, April 28 at noon. The game will be televised on Empire Sports Network and simulcast on WNSA 107.7 FM.

The Destroyers return home Saturday, May 11 finishing a home-and-home series with the Detroit Fury at 7:30PM at HSBC Arena. Tickets are on sale now, call 881-4444!
