Florida Fire Frogs News Release

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Florida Fire Frogs' offensive woes continued in Tuesday night's 8-1 loss to the Palm Beach Cardinals at Osceola County Stadium. Florida dropped the three-game series with the defeat, and is not 9-18-6 in series play in 2018.

The Fire Frogs started the scoring early with a solo tally in the first. Drew Waters (2x4, R, 2B) starting things out with a double against Alex Fagalde (2-0), and came around to score on Riley Delgado's (3x4, RBI) run-scoring single down the line in right. Delgado finished the night with three hits for his second three-hit performance at the High-A level.

That would be the only run for Florida (15-26, 44-63), as the home team stranded six runners throughout the course of the game, while picking up six hits. The Atlanta Braves' affiliate has scored just 30 runs over the last 13 games, averaging 2.3 runs-per-contest.

Palm Beach (21-23, 60-48) knotted the game at a run apiece in the third against Ian Anderson (2-6). Kramer Robertson reached on a one-out walk, stole second and reached third on a wild pitch during Conner Capel's at-bat, and scored on a passed ball to Dylan Carlson.

Anderson lasted 5.1 in game two, allowing three runs, but only one was earned. The 20-year-old scattered three hits, walked four and struck out five on 93 pitches - 53 strikes.

The Braves' third-ranked prospect (MLB.com) left with runners at second and third and one out in the sixth, and gave way to Justin Kelly. The left-handed reliever surrendered a two-run single to Irving Lopez to put the Fire Frogs behind, 3-1.

The visitors added a run in the eighth, and four more in the ninth to break the game open and put the Florida in a seven-run deficit.

Colton Thomson (SV, 5) earned his fifth save in as many chances by working 1.1 of scoreless ball.

Florida will look to avoid the sweep in the finale of the three-game set on Wednesday morning at Osceola County Stadium. RHP Huascar Ynoa (0-1, 5.40) takes the mound for the Fire Frogs against LHP Ian Oxnevad (4-6, 4.72). First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., with coverage beginning at 10:45 a.m. with the Florida Fire Frogs Pre-game Show on the Florida Fire Frogs Broadcasting Network.
