ORLANDO, FL - The Texas Legends (5-10) dropped a close match to the Delaware Blue Coats (9-6) 129-133 Wednesday night in their Showcase opener.
The Blue Coats jumped off to the first lead and took their largest spread of the night (+9) midway through the quarter. Texas answered with back-to-back threes and cut the difference to one at the first buzzer. The two exchanged leads six times in the second but Delaware held the 67-61 advantage at the break.
The Legends went on a 20-6 run early in the third to take their largest lead of the night (+8), but the two went into the final quarter tied at 100-all. Texas tied it up again late in the fourth but couldn't complete the comeback, falling short in their final free throw opportunity.
Jelly Walker had 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and a season-high 15 assists. Greg Brown III finished with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 blocks and Justin Jackson added 19 points, 5 rebounds. Tony Bradley tagged on 16 points, 7 rebounds while Dexter Dennis had 14 points, 6 rebounds. Mike Miles Jr. grabbed 11 points off the bench joined by Theo Pinson with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Darius Bazley led all with 43 points, 18 rebounds, and 6 blocks while Terquavion Smith came off the bench for 40 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.
