Sioux City, IA - The Sioux City Musketeers have announced that defenseman Jake Delaney has been named the USHL Defenseman of the week.

This is the first time that Delaney has earned the award and the first Musketeer to win this award since Ty Hanson last season.

Delaney collected three points on the weekend via a goal and two assists while also contributing a +5 in Sioux City's victories over Omaha and Des Moines.

The Glen Ellyn, IL native has scored 11 points on four goals and seven assists this season in 31 games. He has accrued a +15 plus/minus margin on the campaign that ranks second on the team.

Now in his third season in the USHL with stops in Sioux Falls and Waterloo, Delaney has 23 career points with nine goals and 14 assists in 71 games.

The 6'0" 217 pound left shot blue liner was acquired by the Musketeers on September 16th in a trade with Sioux Falls where Sioux City traded away a 2025 Phase II seventh round pick.

The Musketeers have rattled off four wins in a row and have gained at least a point in the standings in nine consecutive games and have surged into third place. They will face the two teams ahead of them in the standings this weekend when they face Sioux Falls on the road on Friday, and at home on Saturday. Before they face the Lincoln Stars on Sunday after noon from the Tyson Events Center.
