Deja Vu for Brahmas' Sebastian Vidmar

October 14, 2014 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Lone Star Brahmas News Release

For the second week in a row Lone Star Brahmas forward Sebastian Vidmar earned NAHL Easton South Division Player of the Week recognition.

Last week Vidmar took the award after putting up 3G - 2A in Wichita Falls as the Brahmas took three of a possible four points with an overtime loss on Friday followed by a 5 - 1 win on Saturday. One of his two goals on Saturday went down as the game winner.

The native of Malmo Sweden followed up with another meteoric performance this weekend against the Corpus Christi Icerays. In the Brahmas home opener on Friday in front of over 2100 in the NYTEX Sports Centre, Vidmar opened the scoring midway through the first period. When the Icerays pushed Lone Star to overtime, it was Vidmar who would be the hero in the 3 - 2 win. With just 42 seconds gone in the extra period he took the puck behind the net and wrapped it around the far post to send the team pouring off the bench and crowd into a frenzy.

In game two of the series, Vidmar found the back of the net less than two minutes in. His second came with just over three minutes to go in the first and the Brahmas on the penalty kill. Lone Star went on to win the game 5 - 2 and for the third game in a row it was Vidmar who potted the game winner. The performance helped the Brahmas lock up seven points over the past four games and move them to fourth in the South Division.

"Sebastian had another great weekend and is on a roll right now. So much about playing good hockey is about momentum and developing the right habits and he has taken advantage of both," Brahmas' Head Coach Dan Wildfong told NAHL.com. "He is reading plays nicely and works hard and as a result he is playing great hockey."

Vidmar now has 9 points in the Brahmas' last four games on 7G - 2A. He is currently second in the league in goals scored with nine in nine games played. His performance has continued the run he put up at the end of last season when he had 8 points in the last three games played. His goal output in nine games this season equals his total of nine goals last season in 42 games played.
