Dehart strikes out ten, flyers shutout

Fargo, ND- Rick DeHart fanned 10 Fargo hitters in 5.1 innings this afternoon for the Schaumburg Flyers (8- 10, 39-27) but his offense couldn't escape yet another stellar pitching performance from the RedHawks. Fargo-Moorhead's 3-0 win completed a three game sweep of the Flyers.

DeHart pitched in and out of trouble all afternoon allowing 10 hits but just two runs, stranding 10 of 12 baserunners. Chris Andel pitched 1.1 innings in relief and gave up an RBI single to Fargo (11-8, 43-24) left fielder Brent Krause after coming in for DeHart in the sixth. Krause drove in the third run of the game off of Flyers' reliever Dan Jackson in the eighth.

Sandy Almonte led off for Schaumburg for the first time and Todd Sather went 2-3, picking up his first hit in a Flyers uniform.

Flyers' third basemen Nelson Gord was hit by a pitch twice and has now been plunked 23 times this season. Chris Weekly returned to the starting lineup as the designated hitter and went 1-3.

The Flyers travel to Kansas City for four games with the T-Bones starting Thursday

PAWLOWSKI IS THE NEW FLYERS BROADCASTER

SCHAUMBURG, IL - Local Streamwood, IL resident Jason Pawlowski was the final bidder in the eBay auction for the Schaumburg Flyers broadcasting position, winning the position for the last third of the season. Pawlowski is currently the editor of Sharon Falco's Northwest Community times and works for SJF Realty.

"This is something I have always wanted to do," said Pawlowski. This is not the first experience he will have with radio and broadcasting, Pawlowski has been a part of the broadcasting program at the Illinois Center for Broadcasting.

Pawlowski will begin with the Flyers on August 8, 2006 when they return from the road for a six-game homestand with the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the Joliet JackHamers. He will be replacing Joseph Sergio in the broadcast booth, Sergio was the eBay winner of the first two-thirds of the season.
