Lexington County, S.C. (July 10, 2015) -- A season-high six errors gifted eleven unearned runs in a 12-7 loss to the Fayetteville SwampDogs on Friday night at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

The Lexington County Blowfish took several leads over the course of this game. J.D. Crowe (Francis Marion) mashed a two-run home run, and newcomer Anthony Paulsen (Winthrop) knocked a two-run single to help pad a 6-3 lead after two innings.

Paulsen had been set up by three prior singles from Trevor Bradley (USC-Aiken), new addition Gene Cone (University of South Carolina) and Jared Williams (University of South Carolina). Bennette Hill (Shelton State) would add a sacrifice fly to finish the inning.

Cue the errors and wild pitches. In the fifth inning, Sky Overton was hit by a Robbie Baker (Richmond) pitch, putting him on base. Two errors after that point scored two runs. Overton proved to be one of them.

Defensive gaffes would bring in two more runs in the sixth, and an additional four runs in the seventh inning. Only one run on the night was earned. That was off of a Mitchell Roman RBI single.

All of that aside, Baker struck out a season-high nine batters over 5.2 innings pitched.

Fayetteville's Alex Liquori proved almost unstoppable in this game. He scored four times, finishing the game 4-for-5. Lexington County's three-time all-star Crowe finished 3-for-6, scoring twice.

The Blowfish smashed a season-high 17 hits in the loss, all-the-while scoring six of its seven runs in the first three innings. Connor Owings' (Coastal Carolina) RBI single in the sixth inning proved to be the last gasp offensively against Fayetteville's long relief, which tied the game at 7. Ross Gardner totaled 5.1 innings on the mound, striking out seven batters.

Gardner relieved starter Trey Hayes, who lasted a mere inning.

Looking to snap the losing streak, the Blowfish will take on division-leading Asheboro on the road Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Join the live broadcast on Z93.1 FM The Lake starting at 6:50 p.m.

The Blowfish will return home to Lexington County Baseball Stadium on Dog Day Tuesday presented by MetLife, as they will take on the Florence RedWolves at 7:05 p.m. Fans can bring their dog, on a leash, to the game to enjoy a night out with the whole family.

Tickets are available by calling the box office at 803-254-FISH, online at blowfishbaseball.com, and at Blowfish on Main (101 East Main Street in Lexington, S.C.)
