Defenseman Periard Joins Men O' War

Lexington, KY- Lexington Men O' War V.P/ G.M. Jean Gagnon and Head Coach Jim Wiley today announced Dominic Periard (Pear-EE-Ard) has agreed to terms for the 2002-03 season. Periard is entering his second season of professional hockey after his rookie campaign with the Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League. Periard finished the season with 12 goals, 10 assists, 22 points and 107 penalty minutes in 64 games. The 22 year-old blueliner finished third best on the team in scoring by a defenseman. Periard's +30 rating finished third best in the league for defenseman. His plus/minus rating ranked him fifth best on the Ice Bats and second best among Austin defensemen. Periard was a key component in the Ice Bats run to the CHL Finals.

"Dom will be a solid D-man in the ECHL. He works hard every night. His plus/minus speaks for itself. He had a great rookie season in Austin and we hope he will build on it here in Lexington," said Wiley.
