Macon Trax News Release
[Macon, Ga.]âTwo more familiar faces will be returning to Macon this season. David Deeves and Edan Welch have re-signed with the Trax.
Both players will be entering their third season in professional hockey and both have been with the Trax their entire careers. Currently the Trax have officially signed four players for the 2004-05 season.
Deeves had a break out year in his second season in Macon. The speedy center led the Trax last season with 85 points. The Barrie, Ont. native was second in the WHA2 in points, goals (36) and assists (46). The stellar numbers earned him the league's Most Valuable Player Award.
"There is no doubt David is a great player to have on this team." said Trax Coach Tommy Stewart, "Anytime you can bring the league's MVP back to your team, you have to be excited."
The other fan favorite returning is winger Edan Welch. The 5'9" 180-pounder is coming off back-to-back
50-plus point seasons.
Last year for the Trax, Welch scored 54 points (20G, 34A) while appearing in 49 games. Welch had a feel for the dramatics last season. He scored four game winning goals throughout the campaign.
"Welchy has been solid the past two seasons." said Stewart, "He has great hands and was one of the better passers I had last year."
Stewart expects to continue signing players over the next few weeks. He says he is not done with signing former players and hope that a few more will wear the Trax jersey again.
Season tickets and corporate packages for the 2004-05 season are on sale now for as low as $99. To be a part of exciting Macon Trax hockey call the office at 478-742-4849.
