
Dee and Beca Power Stingrays Past Evansville 5-2

North Charleston, SC - Forward Robby Dee recorded a hat trick and forward Matt Beca added four points (one goal, three assists) as the South Carolina Stingrays (24-23-1-3) toppled the Evansville IceMen (17-28-2-3) 5-2 at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday night.
Dee kicked off the scoring on the power play at 7:13 of the first period blasting a shot past the glove of IceMen goaltender Paul Dainton (L, 24 saves on 29 shots) from the right-wing circle. Defenseman Scooter Vaughan and forward Hunter Bishop added assists. The IceMen tied the contest seconds later with a tally from forward Jim McKenzie at 8:46. Defenseman Kevin Quick buried his first goal of the season and first marker since the 2008-09 campaign at 10:09 from Beca and forward Brian Elser to give the Stingrays a 2-1 advantage. Dee potted his second of the game with help from Quick and Beca at 15:07. Forward Jason Dale pulled the contest back within one for the IceMen with an unassisted shorthanded breakaway goal slipping a shot past Stingrays netminder Jeff Jakaitis (W, 31 saves on 33 shots) with 2:26 to play in the opening frame.
Dee completed the hat trick and registered his 11 goal of the season on the man advantage from Beca and forward Andrew Cherniwchan at 19:45 of the second period.
Beca wrapped up the victory with an unassisted shorthanded marker at 10:43 of the final period. The Stingrays finished the contest 2-for-10 on the power play while the IceMen went 0-for-4.
