DeCaro Named CHL Goaltender of the Month

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Fresh off his Oakley CHL Goalie of the Week award for the week of November 19th-25th, the Mudbugs' John DeCaro has been named Sher-Wood CHL Goaltender of the Month for November.

In six starts during the eleventh month, DeCaro was 6-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .965 saves percentage. The reigning CHL Most Outstanding Goaltender recorded two shutouts and surrendered just six goals in six November appearances. DeCaro and Ken Carroll teamed up to break the CHL record for consecutive shutout minutes during the month as well, going 218:57 without surrendering a goal.

DeCaro has won seven consecutive starts to improve his season record to 7-3-1 on the year. His three shutouts are tied for the league lead, .936 saves percentage is also a league best, and 1.78 goals-against average is second in the CHL this season.

The 6-3, 217-pound goaltender is in his second professional season with a record of 30-10-5 with five shutouts, a 2.08 goals against average, and .932 saves percentage. Last season, in addition to being named the CHL's Most Outstanding Goaltender, he was named to the All-CHL and CHL All-Rookie teams and played in the 2007 CHL-Allstar game.
