Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 27, 2012) - Pat Dean put together his best start of June and led the Fort Myers Miracle to a 6-2 win over the Tampa Yankees on Wednesday at Hammond Stadium.

The victory gave the Miracle a split in the four-game series and they took the season series 3-2.

Dean pitched six innings, allowing just four singles and one earned run. He walked two and struck out a pair in picking up his sixth win of the year.

Kyle Knudson got the Miracle off to a good start in the first when his single plated Levi Michael. Jairo Perez followed with a two-run homer, his fifth of the season, to put Fort Myers up 3-0.

Lance Ray continued to rough up Yankees' starter Sean Black with a two-out solo homer in the second to make it 4-0.

That was plenty for Dean, who retired the last nine batter he faced before being lifted for Marty Popham after six innings.

Popham pitched two scoreless innings and Nelvin Fuentes closed out the game in the ninth.

Knudson added an RBI double and finished 2 for 3. Daniel Ortiz also had a two-hit game for the Miracle.

Black lasted just 2 1/3 innings in taking the loss. He gave up six hits and six runs, three earned.

The Miracle (31-43, 3-4) hit the road for one game in Charlotte on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. before returning home on Friday against the Stone Crabs in a game that will feature postage fireworks.

Join the "Voice of the Miracle" Brice Zimmerman and Adam MacDonald for the Thursday's broadcast on www.miraclebaseball.com starting at 5:10 p.m.
