Dean Blais resigns as Fargo Force Heach Coach/General Manager
June 12, 2009 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release
Dean Blais has resigned as Head Coach/General Manager of the Fargo Force hockey team. Blais will assist the management staff in searching for a new head coach, effective immediately.
In its first season, Coach Blais built a solid team that took home the United States Hockey League Western Division Championship, Coach of the Year, Goaltender of the Year, and Organization of the Year; the team also made it to the USHL Clark Cup Finals. Blais leaves the coaching bench with the Fargo Force team in a strong position.
"This has been a tremendous opportunity for me," says Blais. "At this time, I feel I have accomplished what I set out to do. Starting a hockey franchise, playing at the outstanding Urban Plains Center, and watching these young players excel have all been enjoyable for me. I wish the players and management team the very, very best for many years to come."
Blais will remain a co-owner of the Fargo Force (along with Ace Brandt of Fargo). "I have a strong desire to remain involved because I believe in the Fargo Force organization and the United States Hockey League and the direction they are going," says Blais.
The Fargo Force joined the Tier 1 United States Hockey League (USHL) in 2008. The USHL is America's first and only Tier 1 junior hockey league with its mission to develop young hockey talent.
