SAN DIEGO - The Major Arena Soccer League is proud to present the first of many End of Year awards for the 2021-22 Regular Season. The following awards are in recognition of success in key statistical areas.
San Diego's Leonardo De Oliveira earns the first-ever MASL Pass Master award. This award is given to the player with the most assists in a regular season. Oliveira tallied 33 assists, six more than the next highest-earning player. The Rio De Janeiro, Brazil native has also been credited with six assists in San Diego's quest for the Ron Newman Cup.
The Golden Boot is awarded to Milwaukee Wave's Ian Bennett. The award for most goals scored during the regular season is earned after finding the back of the net 50 times. The runner-up scored 39. Of the goals scored eight were power-play goals and four came as game-winning goals.
Bennett also earns the MASL Scoring Champion award. The award is given to the player with the most points in the regular season. Bennett combined for 62 points, 11 more than the next closest player.
Tomorrow the Elite Six and Second Team will be announced.
In the MASL Semifinals, the Sockers have their backs against the wall for Sunday's return leg, knowing they will need to beat the Savage twice in the same night, beginning with Game Two at 5:05pm from Pechanga Arena. Tickets are available at sdsockers.com/tickets or by calling (866) 799-GOAL.
