
DB Marquis Floyd Returns to Rattlers

The five-time world champion Arizona Rattlers were assigned defensive back Marquis Floyd for the 2016 Arena Football League (AFL) season on Thursday. This will be his sixth season with the Rattlers and ninth in the AFL.
Floyd was an integral part of the Rattlers' back-to-back-to-back ArenaBowl championship teams from 2012 to 2014. In 2014, Floyd earned IOA Defensive Back of the Year and First Team All-Arena honors after leading the league with 13 interceptions, along with 86 tackles. During his career Floyd has found his way into the record books. He is eighth all time in tackles with 525 and is fourth in both interceptions (60) and interception yards (839).
Floyd spent his first three seasons in the AFL with the San Jose SaberCats from 2006 to 2008. During that time, he was awarded first team All-Arena for the 2008 season. He had 77 tackles, 16 pass breakups, and a then career high ten interceptions.
The 6-foot-1 195 pound Floyd was signed to the National Football League's (NFL) Seattle Seahawks in 2008. He spent the entire training camp with the team and was later re-signed to the practice squad. In 2009, Floyd was signed to the NFL's Cleveland Browns and spent time on both the active roster and the practice squad. In November of 2009, Floyd was signed to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad.
Floyd attended the University of West Georgia, where he was a three-time American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American. He led the Braves in interceptions in each of his last three seasons and holds the school record for career interceptions with 19. Floyd recorded 164 solo tackles during his four seasons. He holds the school's all-time punt return yards record with 982 on 125 returns.
The Monroe, Georgia native attended Monroe Area High School where he was a four sport athlete. He played football, basketball, baseball, and ran track. He earned basketball MVP honors his junior and senior years. He was also named 'Best Sprinter' from his track team and 'Best Outfielder' honor for baseball.
