LA KISS Look to Get Back on Track in Cleveland

April 15, 2016 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Los Angeles KISS News Release

The LA KISS (1-1) are ready to get back into the win column as they travel to Cleveland to take on the Gladiators (1-1). Kickoff is set for 4:30 pm PT at the Quicken Loans Arena and all of the exciting hard-hitting action will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network! The winner of this National Conference matchup will be in the driver's seat to challenge the Arizona Rattlers for first place in the Conference Standings.

The teams did not face each other in 2015 after meeting twice in 2014. Cleveland currently holds a 2-0 all-time lead against the LA KISS. The last time these organizations met, Cleveland won a three-point nail-biter by a score of 45-42 on May 10th, 2014.

This will be LA KISS wide receiver Amarri Jackson's first time back in Cleveland. Last season, Jackson led the Gladiators in all-purpose yards. In fact, his 2,743 yards were over 1,100 more than anyone else on the team. In the first two weeks of the 2016 season Jackson has been relatively quiet, totaling just five receptions for 42 yards. Look for him to have a big week against his former team.

Another player to watch is former LA KISS receiver Thyron Lewis. Lewis currently leads the Gladiators with 180 receiving yards. The sixth-year player has also tallied two receiving touchdowns on 16 receptions. Two other former LA KISS players, center Joe Madsen and defensive back Shaine Boyle are current Gladiators. Prior to getting signed by the Green Bay Packers, Madsen started six games for the LA KISS last season. Boyle ranked third on the LA KISS with 36.5 total tackles in just 11 appearances in 2015.

LA KISS quarterback Nathan Stanley is ready to put last week behind him. After having a stellar week one, where he threw for 283 yards and five touchdowns, he was sacked twice and threw three interceptions in the second half of last week's game. Look for Stanley to have more time in the pocket, which will allow him to be able to find his top receiver Donovan "Captain" Morgan, who already has six touchdowns this season.

In week four, the LA KISS will end their two-game road trip against the Orlando Predators on Saturday, April 24 at 4:30 pm PT at the Amway Arena.
