
Dazzle's Bynum Called Up to Golden State Warriors

Roanoke, Va., March 17 - The Roanoke Dazzle announce that point-guard Will Bynum has received a Gatorade Call-Up to the Golden State Warriors of the NBA. Bynum has signed a 10 day contract with the Warriors and has departed Roanoke to join the team.
Bynum is the 13th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2005-06 NBA Development League season, the seventh this month and the 63rd overall since the league began play in November 2001.
Bynum, a 6-0, 185-pound rookie out of Georgia Tech, leads the D-League in scoring at 24.0 points per game. In 29 games (28 starts) for the Dazzle he is also averaging 37.7 minutes, 6.7 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. His minutes played and assists per game averages are both second in the league, while his steals average is fifth. Bynum also leads the league in free throws made (260) and free throw attempts (305). His .852 free throw percentage is also among league leaders.
The Bynum call-up will make the 12th Gatorade call-up in Dazzle history, involving five different players.

The NBA Development League includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (N.M.), Arkansas RimRockers (Little Rock), Austin Toros (Texas), Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Florida Flame (Ft. Myers), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.) and Tulsa 66ers (Okla.). The Bakersfield Jam (Calif.) will compete in the league beginning with the 2006-07 season.
The D-League offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Forty-two (43) players have been called up to the NBA on 63 separate occasions. Eleven (11) former D-League coaches, six athletic trainers, 14 referees and 30 front office executives have also been called up since the start of the league's inaugural season in November 2001.

The D-League is a source of on-court talent for the NBA's 30 teams and is a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions.
