Dazzle offer events to bring fans out of winter hibernation

ROANOKE, V.A., January 20 – The Roanoke Dazzle will be providing plenty of entertainment this week for fans as they host a number of exciting events.

The week tips off with the annual season ticket holder "Meet the Team Party" on Tuesday, January 25 at the Roanoke Civic Center. Dazzle season ticket holders, their families and friends are invited to join the 2004-05 Roanoke Dazzle Team, Coach Kent Davison, Assistant Coach Chucky Brown, Star City Squad and front office staff.

The event, which is sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings, Nextel and The Candy Shoppe from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening and will give the players a chance to personally respond to the enthusiastic support they have received from season ticket holders this season. Fans will have the opportunity to have dinner with players and coaches, ask questions, play on court games and finish the evening with a team autograph session.

The activities continue on Wednesday, January 26 as the Dazzle take on the first place Columbus Riverdragons at 7 p.m.. The night will honor hockey in the Roanoke Valley as the Dazzle plays host to "Tribute to Roanoke Hockey Night". All former Roanoke Express season ticket holders will receive a complimentary ticket to the game, fans are invited to participate in hockey themed contests throughout the evening. The Dazzle will feature guest appearances by former Express players Travis Smith, Pierre Paiement and Claude Piche, all of whom are members of the Roanoke Hockey Hall of Fame.

Wednesday also offers Dazzle fans a chance to win a Trip to the Sprite NBA All-Star Weekend in Denver, Colorado. Fans can enter to win at Wednesday's game, at Botetourt Travel locations, on-air through Star Country and on Thursday at Liberty University. Ten names will be drawn and winners are invited back to Saturday's game for a special on-court contest.

The excitement peaks on Saturday, January 29, when the Dazzle take on the Asheville Altitude, game time 7 p.m. The night will feature the ZOOperstars, making their first ever Roanoke appearance. These zany characters will provide a great source of fun and hilarious entertainment as they go crazy for the fans. In addition, Valley Character essay contest winners will be recognized, as well as Sportsmanship Award winners from the recently completed Sandlot Super Bowl.

The much awaited Sprite NBA All-Star Weekend trip giveaway will take place Saturday night with a special on-court contest, "Dribbling for Denver". The 10 fans chosen from the week long registration will participate in a "Survivor" style dribbling contest throughout the evening's game. One lucky contestant will win two tickets to the 2004-05 Sprite NBA All-Star Weekend starting February 18-20, including access to the All-Star game, the Fan-Fest, Slam-Dunk Contest, and 3-point Shootout. Botetourt Travel and Tours will provide airfare and accommodations.
