Florida Flame News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla., January 24 - Hiram Fuller scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his tenth double-double of the season (seventh consecutive) as the Florida Flame (6-17) outlasted the Fayetteville Patriots 94-89 at Germain Arena. Mike King paced the way for Fayetteville (7-18), scoring 18 points coming off the bench in the loss for the Patriots.
Kirk Haston recorded his ninth double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds in the win for the Flame. The Flame placed six players in double-figures - Haston (14), Rice (14), Fuller (14), Mouton (12), Washington (11), and English (10). Flame newcomer Tim Picket had seven points, three steals, and a game-high eight assists in his first ever game in the NBDL.
Florida built their largest lead of the game on a Kirk Haston jump shot with 3:07 remaining in the third quarter to put the Flame up 80-63.
Fayetteville would not go down quietly as the Patriots erased the 17 point Flame lead, sparked by an 11-0 run, sandwiched between the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth.
The Patriots closed to within one point at the 88-87 mark on a Mike King jumper, but would get no closer as Florida pulled away for the five point victory.
David Young scored 16 points and Tang Hamilton recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in the losing effort for the Fayetteville.
The two teams will take the rest of the week off and meet again in Fayetteville on Friday night. The tip is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Crown Coliseum.
