Roanoke Dazzle News Release

ROANOKE , Va , November 30, 2003 – Mikki Moore led four players in double figures with 23 points and 8 rebounds to defeat the Fayetteville Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

George Williams had 22 points and 10 rebounds, Staples added 14 points and Mike King 11 to extend the Dazzle's winning streak to 3-0.

"We have collectively defended about as well as I've seen in Roanoke and some other places," said Dazzle head coach Kent Davison. "We jumped to the ball, we helped each other, we had guys denying penetration, and that's what made the game go. We scored a lot of points, but most of it was off of our defense."

Fayetteville's only lead was in the first 2 mintues. They came within six late in the first half, but missed four straight attempts. The Patriots shot 35 percent from the field and went 0-6 from the 3 – point line. The Dazzle was 50 percent from the field and 5- 14 from the arc.

"They may be the only team in the league that can beat the Lakers," Fayetteville head coach Jeff Capel said. "We played a good first half and stopped them four straight times, but we didn't even get a shot and that set the stage for the rest of the game."

The Patriots were led by Britton Johnsen with 13 points and Junie Sanders added 12.

Roanoke hosts (2-0) Huntsville on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Fayetteville travels to Columbus on Wednesday night to face the Riverdragons at 7:00 p.m.
