Roanoke's George Williams Named NBDL Gatorade Top Performer of the Month

GREENVILLE, S.C., December 1 – Roanoke Dazzle forward George Williams has been named the National Basketball Development League's Gatorade Top Performer of the Month for November.

Williams averaged 38.7 minutes, 16.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while helping the Dazzle to a 3-0 start to the 2003-04 season. A 6-foot-8, 220-pound small forward from the University of Houston , Williams is currently fourth in the league in scoring and rebounding.

Following are additional highlights for Williams during the month of November:

Converted 22-33 field goal attempts (.667) and is tied for the league lead in that category.
Made 22 field goals, which is tied for third in the league.
Had 21 defensive rebounds, also third in the league.
Averaged 3.0 assists per game.
Averaged 1.7 steals per game.
Had 16 points and nine rebounds in Dazzle's season opening win at Fayetteville (11/22).
Scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Roanoke win at Charleston (11/28).
Recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in Roanoke 's home opening victory over Fayetteville (11/30)

Williams and the Dazzle play host to the Huntsville Flight Friday at 7 p.m. in a battle for the early-season lead in the NBDL standings. Both the Dazzle and the Flight are 3-0.

Other nominees for November Gatorade Top Performer of the Month include Desmond Penigar of Asheville, Rolan Roberts of Charleston , Terence Morris of Columbus, Bryan Lucas of Fayetteville and Ronald DuPree of Huntsville.
