Roanoke Dazzle News Release
ROANOKE, Va., December 14 - The Roanoke Dazzle, Roanoke Civic Center and 108 WYYD have partnered up with the Rescue Mission for the holidays. The Dazzle will host a free "Holiday Game" on Thursday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. to benefit the Roanoke Rescue Mission.
"The Civic Center and the Roanoke Dazzle are committed to playing an active and useful roll within the Roanoke community," said Mina Boyd, Director of Civic Facilities. "For that reason, we have partnered with the Dazzle and Roanoke Rescue Mission to assist in ways that will enhance their operation and provide opportunities for their guests to be our guests at the Roanoke Civic Center."
Fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy, canned goods or clothing will be given a complimentary ticket to the evening's match-up against the Huntsville Flight. There is no minimum requirement on how many goods must be brought as long as all food is non-perishable.
"The Rescue Mission is pleased to have the support of Roanoke Dazzle to help our community's neediest families," said Lee Clark, Director of Development at the Rescue Mission. "Together, we work to fulfill the dream that homeless men, women and children have safe shelter, good food and medical care."
The Rescue Mission of Roanoke has a 56-year legacy that has provided shelter, meals, free medical care, clothing and furniture assistance, and recovery programs for men and women. In addition to these services, the Rescue Mission will be adding several new sections to it, most significantly the new Women and Children's Center.
The Dazzle has partnered with local companies to offer the season's most sought after tickets and gifts. Fans who attend the December 21 Dazzle game will have the opportunity to register to win a trip for two to the Sugar Bowl, courtesy of the Dazzle and Botetourt Travel. A contest winner will be chosen at the December 23 Dazzle game during half time. The package includes transportation, hotel and tickets. All entries must be received during the December 21 home game and winners must be present at the December 23 game.
In accordance with UTZ Quality Snacks, the Dazzle will host a contest offering this holiday season's hottest toy. Two Tyco Terrain Twister radio control toys will be up for grabs. Fans who wish to participate should bring an "I'm nuts for UTZ & the Dazzle" sign to the December 21 and/or December 23 Dazzle game. The three most creative signs at each game will be chosen as finalists. At half time, Dazzle fans will determine the Terrain Twister winner.
