THAT EXPLAINS IT: Looking for reasons why Columbus is off to a 7-1 start? Try a little defense on for size. The Riverdragons are first in the league in scoring defense (84.3), field goal percentage defense (.392), three-point field goal percentage defense (.250) and blocked shots (8.1 pg). In addition, Coach Jeff Malone's club is leading the league in scoring differential at 8.5.
GOOD STARTS: The Riverdragons have tied the 2001-02 North Charleston Lowgators for the best eight-game start in NBDL history at 7-1. The Lowgators went on to win 11 of their first 13 that season.
SLOW STARTS: The Fayetteville Patriots are off to the worst 10-game start in NBDL history at 1-9. The 2001-02 Patriots started 1-7 and 2-10, while the 2003-04 Columbus Riverdragons started 0-6 and 2-10.
NBDL QUIZ: The second of the Budweiser Concert Series follows tonight's Roanoke at Columbus game. Last week's band was Mindblender. Who is putting on tonight's show?
GAME OF THE WEEK: One of NBA TV's newest and most innovative shows, "NBDL Game of the Week", airs today at 4:30 p.m. ET. The show highlights Antonio Meeking and Ron Slay of Asheville, along with Earl Barron, Bernard King and Joe Shipp of Huntsville.
NBA TV CREW: The "Game of the Week" crew will be at Germain Arena tonight when the Florida Flame is host to the Asheville Altitude. The show that comes from that game will air Dec. 30.
TWIN: "This Week in the NBDL", the NBDL's weekly live magazine-style show on NBA TV, airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET. This week's show features live interviews with Huntsville forward Bernard King, Fayetteville head coach Mike Brown and NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert. Roanoke's James Thomas will also be featured on the show.
