Daytona Cubs Set-Up Pledge Run To Benefit High School

The Daytona Cubs have announced their first ever pledge run to benefit Volusia County High School Sports Pay to Participate program. The run will take place on Friday, February 19th from 7 am to 7 pm. To participate in high school athletics in Volusia County schools, local students must pay $75 to play in one sport and $100 to participate in more than one sport.

Businesses and individuals around the area are encouraged to pledge any money amount on a per mile basis. Once the twelve-hour run has wrapped up, the donations will be taken for every mile completed. All proceeds will go to the athletic departments of Atlantic, Deland, Deltona, Mainland, New Smyrna Beach, Pine Ridge, Seabreeze, Spruce Creek, and T. Dewitt-Taylor.

Daytona Cubs General Manager Brady Ballard says, "The Daytona Cubs are proud to initiate this pledge event in order to assist the student-athletes of Volusia County. Participating in high school sports can be beneficial in so many ways, from maintaining grades, to health, to time management and leadership. We hope everyone will support this event with pledges of any amount."

The run is scheduled to begin at Jackie Robinson Ballpark and head north to Seabreeze High School. From there, the route will go south past each East Volusia high school, including Mainland, Atlantic, Spruce Creek and New Smyrna Beach before attempting to return to "The Jack."
