DAYTONA BEACH, FL- At the Daytona Cubs press conference this morning the club announced several exciting changes and improvements to the organization for the upcoming 2004 season.
"We feel that the changes and additions will vastly improve every Daytona Cubs fan's experience," said General Manager Michael Swope.
The first announcement was that the Daytona Cubs and WELE AM 1380 have reached an agreement to have WELE be the official radio station of all 140 Cubs radio broadcasts. This marks the first time that the Daytona Cubs under the ownership group Big Game Capital, will have a radio home for all 140 games. As well as broadcasting the Cubs 140 game schedule, WELE will also broadcast the Cubs Thursday Pre-Game show and Sunday Post-Game shows.
The Cubs also announced the hiring of Bo Fulginiti as the Manager of Broadcast Operations. In addition Fulginiti will be the radio voice of the Cubs for all 140 games as well as the sole voice of the Cubs during their 70 road games. Fulginiti previously worked with ESPN Regional Television covering the Big Ten conference in football.
Daytona Cubs General Manager Michael Swope announced a three-year commitment had been reached with the Coca-Cola Company and the Daytona Cubs. Coca-Cola is now the official soft drink of the Daytona Cubs and Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Coca-Cola representatives are excited about the ongoing partnership.
"Our sponsorship with the Cubs has exceeded any of our expectations and we will continue to use the Cubs as one of our top marketing avenues," Coca-Cola Sales Manager Robert Gillespie said.
