Dayton Bulldogs News Release

DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Warbirds are no longer grounded. The Warbirds will fly this Saturday and play their first game at the Nutter Center against the Lincoln Capitals.

The National Indoor Football League will embrace the Warbirds who were orphaned from another indoor league. Game time is 7:35 p.m.

"This is exciting for the city of Dayton and the community," said Anthony J. Pewonski, a member of the league's executive committee.

"We will be setting up an entire 14-game schedule for the Warbirds and will announce that shortly," he said. "We want to guarantee the loyal fans and sponsors that the Warbirds will meet their obligations to the community and the Nutter Center. They will play this season."

The new ownership has retained the services of Centurion Sports Management to oversee the marketing and operation of the franchise.

Head coach Matt King has put together an outstanding group of players, including quarterback Steve Bellisari, and running backs Pepe Pearson and Joe Cooper.

The Nebraska team currently is 0-1 in the Pacific West of the NIFL, losing to the Odessa Roughnecks, 48-30, last Friday.

Dayton will compete in the Atlantic Eastern Division of the Atlantic Conference along with the New Jersey Xtreme, the River City (St. Louis) Rage, and Cincinnati Marshals.
