Opening night gets bigger and bigger
March 30, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Montgomery Bears News Release
The historic first-ever home game for Montgomery's newest professional sports team will be jam-packed with surprises and special events at Garrett Coliseum... with a football game mixed in.
Among the many events and highlights scheduled for Saturday's game:
- Fans tailgating before the game can experience free tethered hot air balloon rides and get a "birds eye" view of Montgomery (weather permitting).
- Once inside, the ASU Pep Band will perform throughout the night.
- The pre-game ceremonies will include an indoor fireworks show during player introductions, the debut of the Maulers Dance Team, the ceremonial coin toss featuring former Auburn head coach Pat Dye, and the game ball delivered by Army National Guard soldiers repelling from the coliseum rafters.
- During the game, selected fans will have a chance to win big bucks. One fan will try to throw a football through a target and win $10,000, while another fan will try to kick a field goal at halftime for $10,000.
Plenty of more fun and surprises are scheduled for opening night. An expansion franchise in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL), the Montgomery Maulers offer seven nights of hard-hitting, high-scoring, "edge of your seat" excitement at historic Garrett Coliseum. Single game tickets start at $7 and can be purchased at the Garrett Coliseum box office, the Maulers retail shop at Eastdale Mall, by calling TicketMaster at (800) 277-1700 or on the internet at www.ticketmaster.com.
