Dayton Gems News Release

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Gems professional hockey team, proud members of the "AA" Central Hockey League, released details for their upcoming "Pink in the Rink" promotion when the Gems host the Fort Wayne Komets on Cassano's Italian Ice inside Hara Arena on Saturday, February 11 at 7pm.

Presented by the Kettering Medical Center, the Gems are hosting the second annual "Pink in the Rink" game at Hara Arena to raise awareness for breast cancer as well as to benefit three local women's health organizations.

The Gems will wear specially designed pink and black jerseys to commemorate the event, while fans will have the opportunity to bid on the game worn uniforms in a live postgame auction inside the Hara Arena main lobby. Proceeds from the pink jersey auction will directly benefit the three selected area organizations to help them continue their missions towards fighting the deadly disease.

Partnering with the Gems for the second consecutive year, Dayton-based women's health organizations The Noble Circle Project and the Women's Wellness Fund at the Kettering Medical Center will be joined by newly selected Pink Ribbon Girls of Dayton for the "Pink in the Rink" event.

The Noble Circle Project exists to help women diagnosed with cancer reclaim their health using simple, natural and affordable methods of self-healing including diet and group support. The Women's Wellness Fund at Kettering Medical Center provides free mammography to more than 1,000 Dayton area women annually, and host a springtime benefit walk at Carillon Historical Park. Joining this year for their first "Pink in the Rink" with the Gems are the Pink Ribbon Girls of Dayton, whose mission is to provide personalized support to young women throughout all phases of their breast cancer journey, using education, outreach and support to women and their families.

Doing their part to highlight the fight against breast cancer, the Gems encourage fans to wear pink inside the Arena and they can receive $1 off any adult level ticket at the box office.

Additionally, the first 500 women through the gates will get a limited edition pink Gems tote bag and Furst Florist will be handing out pink carnations to the first 150 women starting at 6pm.

Fans will also have the chance to purchase special pink feature items including exclusive merchandise and team autographed memorabilia while supplies last, with a portion of the proceeds going back to the three chosen charities.

Tickets for the Gems "Pink in the Rink" game against the Komets on February 11 are still available by calling the Gems at 275-7777 or by visiting www.DaytonGems.com . Groups of ten or more can also receive a special ticket discount while spending the evening supporting a worthy cause. Call the Gems for more details.
