Evansville's Bryan Gillis Named Sher-Wood/CHL Goaltender of the Month

GLENDALE, AZ (February 2, 2012) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Evansville's Bryan Gillis has been named the Sher-Wood Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for Janurary/2012. Gillis will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed watch courtesy of Sher-Wood and the Central Hockey League to recognize his accomplishment.

The monthly goaltending honor for Gillis accompanies Wednesday's announcement that he was the 50/50 Central CHL Rookie of the Month.

CHL Goaltending Leaders

Gillis, 23, went a perfect 10-0 during the month of January allowing just 12 goals and boasting a pair of shutouts. His strong play helped his team push their way into first place in the Turner Conference with 54 points and a 25-10-4 record. The Halifax, Nova Scotia native allowed one goal in four games and two goals in four games to go with his two shutouts.

On the season, Gillis is 17-3-1 ranking second in the league with a 2.28 goals against average and second with a .928 save percentage.

Prior to joining the IceMen, Gillis played two seasons at St. Francis Xavier University and played two seasons with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the BCHL.

Other goaltenders receiving consideration for the monthly award for January include Allen's Rejean Beauchemin, Arizona's Scott Reid, Laredo's Torrie Jung, Missouri's Charlie Effinger, Quad City's David Brown, Rapid City's Danny Battochio and Texas' Steve Silverthorn.
