GLENDALE, AZ (February 2, 2012) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Missouri forward Brandon Coccimiglio has been named the Sher-Wood Central Hockey League Player of the Month for January/2012. Coccimiglio will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed watch courtesy of Sher-Wood and the Central Hockey League to recognize his accomplishment (www.sher-wood.com).

Coccimiglio, 24, was a key contributor and one of the main catalysts for the Mavericks surge in the month of January helping his team to an 8-3-1 record. The Burlington, Ontario native scored eight goals with 10 assists along with a +5 plus/minus rating in 12 games during the month of January.

The Mavs struggled in December going 6-7-1 but the start of the New Year was a positive one for Missouri winning back-to-back games on January 6 and 7 thanks in large part to Coccimiglio. In the Mavs 4-3 win over Tulsa on Jan. 6, Coccimiglio scored a pair of goals (including the game winner) and added an assist and the next night in a 6-3 win over Quad City, the 6-2, 197-pound forward recorded two more goals.

Coccimiglio had seven multi-point games in January and three times scored two goals in one game. He also had nine games where he was an even or plus player.

On the season, the second-year forward (two games past CHL rookie status) has 31 points (17-14=31) in 33 games. Last season, Coccimiglio played in 20 games with Missouri scoring 13 points (7-6=13) with 20 games played. He also had eight points (4-4=8) in nine post-season contests with the Mavs.

Coccimiglio had a solid collegiate career with Mercyhurst College totaling 35 goals and 42 assists in 111 career games. Along with his 20 games with Missouri, the young forward played seven games in the ECHL (Greenville, Alaska).

Missouri is 22-15-4 on the season and is currently in third place in the Turner Conference.

Other players receiving consideration for the monthly award for January include Allen's Bruce Graham, Arizona's Tyler Butler, Bloomington's Jason Dale, Dayton's Brett Lutes, Evansville's Todd Robinson, Steve Makway and Brian Bicek, Fort Wayne's Frankie DeAngelis, Laredo's Neil Trimm, Quad City's Eric Giosa and Brandon Marino, Rapid City's Shawn Limpright, Rio Grande Valley's Dan Gendur and Tomas Klempa, Texas' Chad Woollard, Tulsa's Mike Ullrich and Dylan Clarke and Wichita's Matt Summers and Kevin Seibel.
