Dayton Dutch Lions News Release

DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Dutch Lions FC (2-5-2, 8 points) will travel to Indianapolis on Wednesday to play Indy Eleven of the NASL at Carroll Stadium on Wednesday May 28 at 7.30pm. The game will be the first time ever between the two clubs. The winner will face the Columbus Crew in round four.

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC is coming off a 2-1 loss against Sacramento and will be looking to make an impact gain in the US Open CUP, as they did in previous years. In 2012 they advanced to the quarterfinals facing Sporting Kansas City in front of 17.000 people after beating the Columbus Crew 2-1 in the 4th round and the Michigan Bucks in the 5th round. In 2013 the Lions faced the Columbus Crew again in round four only losing 2-1 after playing a man down almost all game.

Haed Coach Sid van Druenen commented on the upcoming game: "we are all very excited with this game. We have made good runs in the US Open Cup in the past and want to do the same this year. Indy Eleven always draws good crowds and this should be the start of a healthy rivalry between two professional soccer organizations separated by only approximately 100 miles. It should be a good game with two teams that want to move to the next round to face the Columbus Crew."

Indy Eleven is currently in last position of the NASL with 3 points in 7 games. Last Saturday they tied the New York Cosmos 1-1.

On Sunday June 1 the Dayton Dutch Lions FC return home to face the Rochester Rhinos at DOC Stadium at 7.00pm.
